The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, through the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), issued a significant order on 12th February 2026 under Section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. Key Highlights of the Order
The order provides exemptions for goods or articles under specific conditions:
- Purchase Order Date: The purchase order for the goods or articles must have been placed before the implementation date of the respective Quality Control Order.
- Bill of Lading and Bill of Entry Date: The Bill of Lading and Bill of Entry for the goods or articles must be dated on or before 180 days from the implementation date of the Quality Control Order.
- Documentation Requirement: Importers must submit the following documents to the Bureau of Indian Standards within seven days of clearing the consignment:
- A copy of the Purchase Order
- Bill of Lading
- Bill of Entry
- Supporting documents
- Effective Date: The notification came into force on 12th February 2026, the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
