Quality Control Order 2024 issued for the Footwear Industry for implementing BIS standards in India
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade has issued Quality Control Orders for the leather and footwear sector through order S.O. 1422(E) dated March 15, 2024. This order, titled the “Footwear made from All Rubber and all Polymeric Material and its Components (Quality Control) Order, 2024,” mandates that goods or articles listed in column (2) of the Table comply with the corresponding Indian Standard specified in column (3) of the said Table.
Additionally, they must display the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. It’s important to note that this order does not extend to goods or articles intended for export. Additionally, it also notifies legacy stock up to 30th June 2025.
