DGFT Mandates Online Filing for Deemed Export Applications
In a significant step towards enhancing efficiency and transparency, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has reiterated its commitment to a fully digital process for claiming benefits under Deemed Exports. Through Trade Notice No.-10/2025-26, dated 28th July 2025, the DGFT has emphasized the mandatory use of its online application module for all Deemed Export claims.
Key Highlights of the Notice:
- Mandatory Online Filing: As per the guidelines, all applications for Deemed Export benefits must be submitted exclusively through the online module available on the DGFT website. This directive reinforces the earlier Trade Notice (12/2021-22) issued on 28th July 2021, which introduced the online application system.
- No Manual Applications: To ensure uniformity and eliminate delays, the DGFT has clarified that no manual applications will be accepted at any Regional Authority (RA) or Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Exporters and members of the trade are required to strictly adhere to the online filing procedure.
- Ease of Compliance: The online module is designed to simplify the application process, reduce paperwork, and provide real-time tracking of application status. This move aligns with the government’s broader vision of promoting digital governance and ease of doing business.
What This Means for Exporters:
For exporters and members of the trade, this reiteration serves as a reminder to transition to the digital platform, if not already done. The online system not only ensures faster processing of applications but also minimizes the scope for errors and discrepancies. By mandating online submissions, the DGFT aims to create a seamless and transparent process for availing Deemed Export benefits.
How to Get Started:
Exporters can access the online module by visiting the DGFT website and following the guidelines outlined in Trade Notice 12/2021-22. It is advisable to familiarize oneself with the procedure to ensure compliance and avoid any delays in processing.
Conclusion:
The DGFT’s push for digital transformation is a welcome move for the trade community. By reiterating the importance of the online application module, the government is not only simplifying processes but also fostering a culture of accountability and efficiency. Exporters are encouraged to embrace this change and leverage the benefits of a streamlined digital system.
