DGFT Extends RoDTEP Scheme for DTA, AA, SEZ & EOU Exports
The Government of India has announced a significant update for exporters across the country. Through Notification No. 35/2025, dated 30 September 2025, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry has extended the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) Scheme beyond its earlier deadline of 30 September 2025. This extension ensures the scheme remains applicable to eligible exports from Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) units, Advance Authorisation (AA) holders, Special Economic Zone (SEZ) units, and Export Oriented Units (EOUs) until 31 March 2026.
What is the RoDTEP Scheme?
The RoDTEP Scheme was introduced to boost exports by reimbursing embedded taxes and duties that are not refunded under other mechanisms. These include taxes on fuel, electricity, and other levies that exporters incur during production and distribution. By reducing the cost burden on exporters, the scheme enhances the competitiveness of Indian goods in the global market.
Key Highlights of the Notification:
- Extension of Validity: The RoDTEP Scheme, which was set to expire on 30 September 2025, will now remain in force until 31 March 2026.
- Applicability: The scheme will continue to apply to exports made by:
- Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) units
- Advance Authorisation (AA) holders
- Special Economic Zone (SEZ) units
- Export Oriented Units (EOUs)
- Existing Rates: The current RoDTEP rates, as notified earlier, will remain unchanged. Exporters can refer to Appendix 4R (for DTA units) and Appendix 4RE (for AA/SEZ/EOU units) on the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) website for the list of eligible export items, applicable rates, and per-unit value caps.
- Budgetary Framework: The operation of the scheme will continue to be managed within the budgetary allocation provided under Para 4.54 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023.
How to Access RoDTEP Details?
Exporters can visit the DGFT website (www.dgft.gov.in) and navigate to the “Regulations > RoDTEP” section to access:
- The list of eligible export items
- Applicable rates
- Per-unit value caps
Impact of the Extension:
This extension is a welcome move for exporters, as it provides clarity and stability for planning their operations. By ensuring the continuation of the RoDTEP Scheme, the government reinforces its commitment to supporting the export sector and driving economic growth.
Conclusion:
The extension of the RoDTEP Scheme until 31 March 2026 is a crucial step in maintaining India’s export momentum. Exporters are encouraged to leverage this scheme to maximize their competitiveness in the global market.
