The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has announced exciting updates to the eligibility criteria for exporters to register on the “Source from India” service of the Trade Connect ePlatform. This flagship feature is designed to empower Indian exporters by providing them with a global stage to showcase their products and credentials to international buyers.

What is “Source from India”?

“Source from India” is a dedicated service on the Trade Connect ePlatform (www.trade.gov.in) that acts as a one-stop reference point for international buyers seeking reliable Indian exporters. Through this service, exporters can create personalized microsites to highlight their products, achievements, and business credentials, making it easier for foreign buyers to connect with them.

Revised Eligibility Criteria

Starting 1st November 2025, the eligibility criteria for creating a microsite on “Source from India” have been expanded. Now, all valid IECs (Import Export Codes) fulfilling the following conditions can register:

  • A minimum export realization of USD 100,000 in at least one of the previous three financial years.
  • IECs must not be in the DEL (Denied Entity List).

The DGFT eBRC database will be the sole reference point for verifying export realization data, ensuring transparency and accuracy.

Previously, this service was limited to Status Holder exporters, but the revised criteria aim to include more accomplished Indian exporters, enabling them to showcase their capabilities to a global audience.

How to Register?

Exporters can easily register and create their microsites by following these steps:

  1. Log in to Trade Connect: Use your credentials linked to a valid and eligible IEC. If you are already registered on the DGFT platform, you can use the same login details.
  2. Access the “Source from India” Option: Once logged in, eligible users will see the “Create ‘Source from India’ Profile” option on their dashboard.
  3. Fill in the Details: Provide your export achievements, complete the required declarations, and submit your profile for approval.
  4. Get Approved: Once approved, your profile will be publicly visible on the “Source from India” page, accessible to international buyers.

For detailed guidance, refer to the step-by-step instructions provided in the annexure of the Trade Notice.

Why Register?

By creating a microsite on “Source from India,” exporters can:

  • Expand Global Reach: Connect with international buyers who rely on the platform to find trusted Indian suppliers.
  • Showcase Achievements: Highlight your export credentials and product portfolio to stand out in the competitive global market.
  • Leverage Indian Missions Abroad: Indian Missions have been sensitized to use “Source from India” as a reference point for foreign buyers seeking Indian suppliers.

Call to Action

Export Promotion Councils, Commodity Boards, and Industry Associations are encouraged to spread the word and ensure maximum participation from eligible exporters. This initiative is a significant step towards enhancing India’s export ecosystem and promoting Indian products globally.
