DGFT Extends RoDTEP Scheme till September 2026β
The Government of India has announced the continuation of the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) Scheme for eligible export products beyond March 31, 2026. β This decision, formalized through Notification No. β 74/2025-26 issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on March 31, 2026, extends the scheme for an additional six months, from April 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026. β
What is the RoDTEP Scheme? β
The RoDTEP Scheme was introduced to boost exports by reimbursing embedded taxes and duties that are not refunded under other mechanisms. These include taxes on fuel used for transportation, electricity duties, and other levies that exporters incur during the production and distribution process. By offsetting these costs, the scheme aims to enhance the competitiveness of Indian goods in the global market.
Key Highlights of the Notification
- Extension Period: The RoDTEP Scheme will remain in effect for eligible export products from April 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026. β
- Rates and Value Caps: The rates and value caps specified in Appendix 4R and Appendix 4RE, as applicable on March 31, 2026, will remain unchanged during the extended period. β
- Terms and Conditions: All other terms and conditions governing the RoDTEP Scheme will remain the same as previously outlined. β
- Eligibility: Exports made during the extended period will continue to qualify for RoDTEP benefits, provided they meet the existing eligibility criteria. β
Implications for Exporters
The extension of the RoDTEP Scheme is a significant move by the government to support exporters and ensure the continued competitiveness of Indian goods in international markets. β By maintaining the existing rates and value caps, the government provides stability and predictability for exporters, enabling them to plan their operations and pricing strategies effectively. β
How Does This Benefit Exporters?
- Cost Competitiveness: The reimbursement of embedded taxes and duties helps reduce the overall cost of exported goods, making them more competitive globally.
- Policy Stability: The continuation of the scheme with unchanged rates and conditions provides clarity and consistency, which is crucial for exporters to strategize their business operations. β
- Boost to Export Growth: By extending the scheme, the government reinforces its commitment to promoting exports, which is vital for economic growth and foreign exchange earnings. β
Conclusion
The extension of the RoDTEP Scheme is a welcome move for the export community, ensuring that they continue to receive support in offsetting embedded taxes and duties. β Exporters are encouraged to review the existing terms and conditions of the scheme and ensure compliance to avail the benefits during the extended period. β This decision underscores the governmentβs focus on fostering a robust export ecosystem and enhancing Indiaβs position in the global trade landscape.
