Import of Stainless Steel Grade J3 in India

The Customs Board has issued CAVR Order No. 02/2023-Customs under Rule 5 of The Customs (Assistance in Value Declaration of Identified Imported Goods), 2023 have specified Stainless Streel Grade J3 under HS Code 7219; 7220, as identified goods under Rule 10 and the following are mandatory while importing into India:

  1. Unique Quantity Code of Kilogram (Kg) is necessarily be used and declared in the bill of entry;
  2. The grade of Stainless Steel must be mentioned in the bill of entry; and
  3. Follow documents must be submitted along with the bill of entry:
  • Manufacturerโ€™s Invoice
  • Mill test certificate of the product
  • Positive Material Identification (PMI) Test Report
  • Declaration from the manufacturer that the goods are J3 stock lot/ex stock, where applicable
  • Purchase order or Contract
