The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has invited applications under its recently launched Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Electric Passenger Cars in India (SPMEPCI).

The scheme was notified via Gazette Notification dated 15th March 2024, with detailed guidelines subsequently issued under S.O. 2450(E) dated 2nd June 2025.

Application Timeline and Process

  • Start Date: 24th June 2025, from 10:30 AM
  • Deadline: 21st October 2025, up to 6:00 PM

In addition to the online submission, a hard copy of the completed application along with all required annexures must be submitted to:

Before: 6:00 PM on 21st October 2025

About the Scheme

The SPMEPCI scheme is a major policy initiative by the Government of India to promote domestic manufacturing of electric passenger vehicles, reduce dependency on fossil fuels, and position India as a global hub for clean automotive technologies.

Key objectives include:

  • Enhancing indigenous manufacturing capacity
  • Attracting investments in EV production
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Supporting the transition to cleaner urban transport systems
