CBIC Expands Customs Operations in Karnataka

The Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, has issued a significant update to the Customs Act, 1962, through Notification No. ​ 66/2025 – Customs (N.T. ​), dated 23rd October 2025. ​ This amendment, published in the Gazette of India, marks a pivotal development in the customs operations within the State of Karnataka.

Key Highlights of the Notification:

  1. Addition of Malur, Kolar District: The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has officially included Malur, located in Kolar District, Karnataka, as a designated area for customs operations. ​ This addition is reflected in the principal notification No. ​ 12/97-Customs (N.T. ​), dated 2nd April 1997. ​
  2. Scope of Operations: Malur, Kolar District, is now authorized for:
    • Unloading of imported goods
    • Loading of export goods
    • Handling of any class of such goods ​

This expansion is expected to streamline trade operations and enhance the efficiency of import-export activities in the region.
