RoDTEP Schedule Aligned with Customs Tariff Act: Key Amendments Effective May 1, 2026

The Government of India has issued Notification No. 15 dated April 30, 2026, announcing significant amendments to the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) schedule. These changes align the RoDTEP schedule with updates in the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, as amended by the Fourth Schedule of the Finance Act (No. 3 of 2026). The amendments take effect from May 1, 2026, and impact exporters across multiple sectors.

Key Highlights of the Notification

1. Addition of Tariff Lines
   • 142 new tariff lines at the 8-digit level have been added to Appendix 4R and 4RE of the RoDTEP schedule.
   • These additions cover a wide range of products, including agricultural goods (e.g., krill, pecan nuts, cranberries, blueberries), chemicals, industrial goods, and more.
2. Deletion of Tariff Lines
   • 50 tariff lines at the 8-digit level have been deleted from the schedule.
   • The omitted lines are listed in Annexure-C and include items such as certain nuts, berries, chemicals, and industrial products.
3. Changes in Product Descriptions
   • Descriptions for 2 tariff lines have been updated to reflect changes in product classification. For example:
     • Tariff item 29171970 now refers only to “Ethoxy methylene malonate” (previously included diethyl malonate).
     • Tariff item 29333700 corrects the spelling to “N-Phenethyl-4-piperidone (NPP)”.
4. Updated RoDTEP Rates and Value Caps
   • Each tariff line is assigned a specific RoDTEP rate (as a percentage of FOB value) and, where applicable, a cap in rupees per unit quantity.
   • For example:
     • Krill (03061910): 3.00% (Appendix 4R), 1.80% (Appendix 4RE), with caps of Rs. 42.00 and Rs. 25.20 per kg respectively.
     • Cranberries (08104010): 2.40% (Appendix 4R), 1.40% (Appendix 4RE).
     • Battery separators (85079020): 0.70% (Appendix 4R), 0.40% (Appendix 4RE).
5. Alignment with Customs Tariff Act
   • The amendments ensure that the RoDTEP schedule is fully aligned with the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act, reflecting the latest changes in product classification and duty structure.

• Eligibility and Rates: Exporters must review the updated schedule to determine eligibility for RoDTEP benefits and applicable rates for their products.
