DGFT

Dated: 23.05.2026

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has introduced a dedicated online module for the issuance of Certificates of Origin (CoO) for Agarwood exports. This initiative, operational from May 25, 2026, is part of the Trade Connect ePlatform (TCeP) and aims to streamline export processes, enhance transparency, and ensure compliance with international standards.

Key Features of the Online Module

  1. Single-Window Digital Interface
    • The platform serves as a unified portal for exporters to apply for CoOs and access integrated trade facilitation services.
    • It supports electronic submission, tracking, and issuance of certificates, reducing paperwork and physical interactions.
  2. Compliance and Traceability
    • The system ensures legal origin verification, validates the chain of custody, and aligns with international requirements, including CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
    • All applications and supporting documents are digitally routed for verification and approval.
  3. Paperless Workflow
    • Exporters, Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs), and State Nodal Officers interact through a transparent, paperless process, improving traceability and accountability.

Step-by-Step Workflow

For Exporters

  1. Access and Registration
    • Exporters use their existing DGFT website credentials to log in to the Trade Connect ePlatform (https://trade.gov.in). New users must register on the DGFT website.
  2. Application Submission
    • Apply online for Agarwood CoO by navigating to: Certificate of Origin β†’ Apply for Certificate of Origin β†’ Application details β†’ Basic details β†’ Certification details β†’ Type of Certificate of Origin β†’ Other β†’ Trade Agreement/Others β†’ Forest Produce – Agarwood.
    • Provide details on source/origin, stock particulars, chain of custody, quantity, product description, and upload supporting documents (including inspection photographs).
  3. Tracking and Downloading
    • Track application status online and download the digitally issued CoO upon approval.

For Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs) and State Nodal Officers

  1. Onboarding
    • Officers register on the Trade Connect ePlatform as ‘CoO Authorized Agency’ using their official email and register their digital signature for e-signing certificates.
    • Already onboarded officers on the DGFT Back Office Portal do not need to re-register.
  2. Verification and Approval
    • DFOs verify documents, conduct physical inspections, and forward applications with recommendations to State Nodal Officers.
    • State Nodal Officers review, approve, reject, or seek clarifications before electronic issuance of the CoO.

Verification Mechanism

Authorities can verify the authenticity of a CoO by visiting the Trade Connect ePlatform, selecting ‘Certificate of Origin’ β†’ ‘Verify Certificate’, and entering the CoO number. The system will display the corresponding certificate details for validation.

Support and Assistance

  • Toll-Free Helpdesk: Exporters can contact the DGFT Helpdesk for support.
  • Email Support: For queries or feedback, email coo-dgft@gov.in.
  • User Manuals: Comprehensive guides for exporters and officials are available on the Trade Connect ePlatform.

Benefits of the New System

  1. Enhanced Transparency: Digital workflows minimize manual intervention and increase accountability.
  2. Improved Efficiency: Faster processing and reduced paperwork streamline the export process.
  3. International Compliance: Ensures adherence to CITES and other global trade requirements.
  4. User-Friendly Experience: Exporters and officials benefit from a simplified, accessible, and traceable system.

The launch of this online module marks a significant step towards modernizing India’s export facilitation for Agarwood, supporting both regulatory compliance and ease of doing business.
