DGFT Extends RELIEF Scheme Eligibility for Exporters Until September 2026 Amid Logistics Challenges
The Government of India has announced a significant extension to the eligibility period for exporters under the Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation (RELIEF) scheme. This move aims to bolster trade resilience and support Indian exporters facing ongoing logistics challenges, particularly those arising from the West Asia Crisis.
Background: The RELIEF Intervention
The RELIEF intervention is a part of the Export Promotion Mission (EPM) managed by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. It is designed to facilitate and promote Indian exports by addressing logistics bottlenecks and enhancing the resilience of the export supply chain.
What Has Changed?
On June 29, 2026, the Central Government issued Notification No. 21/2026-27, amending the earlier Notification No. 65/2025-26. The key update is:
- Extension of Eligibility Period:
- The eligibility period under Component II of the RELIEF intervention is now extended up to 30th September 2026.
- This extension applies to shipments meant for delivery or transshipment under the intervention.
- The goal is to enhance the utilization of the scheme and further facilitate trade resilience for Indian exporters.
- Unchanged Provisions:
- All other provisions of the previous notification remain unchanged, ensuring continuity and stability in the policy framework.
Why Is This Extension Important?
- Support Amidst Crisis: The extension directly addresses the ongoing logistics challenges caused by the West Asia Crisis, which has disrupted supply chains and increased operational risks for exporters.
- Enhanced Utilization: By extending the timeline, more exporters can benefit from the scheme, ensuring that shipments delayed or affected by external factors remain eligible for support.
- Trade Resilience: The move reinforces the government’s commitment to strengthening India’s export ecosystem and maintaining global competitiveness.
Who Benefits?
- Indian Exporters: Especially those whose shipments are scheduled for delivery or transshipment and may have been impacted by recent disruptions.
- Logistics Providers: Entities involved in the movement and handling of export goods can also leverage the extended support period.
How to Avail the Extended Benefits
Exporters and stakeholders should:
- Review the updated eligibility period and ensure their shipments fall within the new timeline (up to 30th September 2026).
- Refer to the original Notification No. 65/2025-26 for detailed provisions, as all other criteria remain unchanged.
- Contact the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for any clarifications or procedural guidance.
Conclusion
The extension of the eligibility period under the RELIEF intervention is a timely and strategic measure by the Indian government. It demonstrates proactive support for exporters and a commitment to overcoming global logistics challenges. Exporters are encouraged to take full advantage of this extension to ensure continued growth and resilience in international trade.
