RBI’s Framework for Import & Export Data Processing and Monitoring System

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has developed the Import/Export Data Processing and Monitoring System (IEDPMS) to streamline the export and import processes for Indian businesses. This platform is designed to simplify data management, ensure compliance, and provide exporters and importers with a centralized system to monitor their transactions. In this blog, we’ll provide a detailed overview of the IEDPMS platform, its features, and how it benefits users.

What is IEDPMS?

IEDPMS is a digital platform introduced by the RBI to facilitate the management of import/export data. It allows Indian exporters and importers to register, search for transaction details, handle errors, and download reports—all in one place. The system ensures transparency and efficiency in managing bills and remittances, making it an essential tool for businesses involved in international trade.

Customer On-Boarding: Registration Made Easy 

The IEDPMS platform simplifies the registration process for Indian exporters and importers. Each Importer Exporter Code (IE Code) is eligible for a single user ID, which must be linked to a mobile number already updated by the bank on the IEDPMS portal.

Steps for Registration:

Visit the dedicated registration page on the IEDPMS portal.
Provide accurate details, including:
- IE Code: A unique 10-character identifier for importers/exporters.
- IE Name: The name of the importer/exporter (up to 50 characters).
- IE Address: Registered address (up to 500 characters).
- IE PAN: Permanent Account Number (10 characters).
- IE GSTIN: GST Identification Number (15 characters).
- IE Phone: Contact number (10 digits).
- IE Mail: Email address (up to 200 characters).
Ensure the mobile number provided matches the bank’s records.
Complete the Captcha validation and submit the registration request.

Customer Login Process: Secure Access to IEDPMS 

Once registered, users receive their login credentials via SMS. The login process is designed with security in mind, incorporating two-factor authentication.

Steps for Login:

Use the login ID and password received via SMS to access the platform.
During the first login, change the password as prompted.
Validate the user ID, password, and Captcha.
Enter the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the registered mobile number. The OTP is valid for 2 minutes, with an option to resend if needed.
Upon successful OTP verification, access the IEDPMS portal.

Features Available After Login:

Search for bills and remittances.
Download pre-generated outstanding files.
Manage account settings.

Search Screens: Easy Data Access 

The IEDPMS platform provides intuitive search screens for users to view and manage their data. These include:

Search Shipping Bill Details: View details of shipping bills submitted to the system.
Search Inward Remittance Details: Access remittance advice, amount utilized, and other details.
Search Bill of Entry (BoE) Details: Review BoE data, including port of discharge and shipment status.
Search Outward Remittance Details: Track outward remittance details, such as beneficiary name and amount utilized.

These search screens ensure users can quickly access and review their transaction data.

Error Handling: Managing Fatal and Non-Fatal Errors 

The platform categorizes errors into fatal and non-fatal types, allowing users to address issues efficiently.

Fatal Errors:

Occur due to invalid data in shipping bills or BoE records.
Resolution: Contact the respective export/import agency for correction and re-submission.

Non-Fatal Errors:

Less critical errors that require coordination with the designated AD Bank.
Resolution: The AD Bank will liaise with the IEDPMS support team for further processing.

Note: RBI does not edit, modify, or delete any data in the IEDPMS system.

Download Reports: Access Critical Data 

The IEDPMS platform allows users to download reports on outstanding bills and remittances. These reports are updated weekly and generated on the second Saturday of every month. Users can download the following types of reports:

Shipping Bill Outstanding Report
BoE Outstanding Report
ORM Outstanding Report

This feature ensures users have access to up-to-date information for better decision-making.

Password Management and Account Support

The platform offers robust password management features to ensure account security.

Forgot Password:

Reset passwords by entering the username and registered email address.
The new password is sent to the registered mobile number.

Change Password:

Update passwords by entering the current password and the new one.
The link for this feature is available in the top-right corner of the dashboard after login.

Locked Account:

If the account is locked, users must contact the IEDPMS support team to unlock it.
