Inclusion of Egypt and Jordan Under India’s Export Promotion Mission (EPM) RELIEF
India’s Ministry of Commerce & Industry has recently announced a significant amendment to its Export Promotion Mission (EPM) RELIEF initiative. Through Notification No. 11/2026-27, dated 17 April 2026, Egypt and Jordan have been officially included as eligible destinations under the Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation (RELIEF) program. This move aims to support Indian exporters facing ongoing logistics disruptions, further strengthening India’s trade relations and export resilience.
What is EPM RELIEF?
The EPM RELIEF (Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation) is a government-led initiative designed to assist exporters in overcoming challenges related to logistics and supply chain disruptions. It forms a part of India’s broader Export Promotion Mission, which seeks to enhance the country’s export competitiveness and ensure smooth delivery and transshipment of goods to key international markets.
Key Highlights of the Amendment
- Expansion of Eligible Destinations:
- Egypt and Jordan are now included in the list of countries eligible for support under EPM RELIEF, alongside previously notified destinations.
- This applies specifically to shipments meant for delivery or transshipment, as outlined in paras 6.2, 7.2, and 8.2 of Notification No.ย 65/2025-26.
- Continuity of Existing Provisions:
- All other provisions of Notification No. 65/2025-26 remain unchanged, ensuring consistency and stability for exporters already benefiting from the program.
Why Was This Amendment Made?
The inclusion of Egypt and Jordan is a direct response to continuing logistics disruptions affecting Indian exporters. By expanding the list of eligible destinations, the government aims to:
- Provide targeted support to exporters shipping goods to Egypt and Jordan.
- Facilitate smoother transshipment and delivery processes amid global supply chain challenges.
- Strengthen India’s trade ties with these important Middle Eastern and North African markets.
How Does This Benefit Exporters?
Exporters shipping to Egypt and Jordan can now access the same support mechanisms as those exporting to other eligible destinations under EPM RELIEF. This includes:
- Assistance in overcoming logistics bottlenecks.
- Enhanced facilitation for delivery and transshipment.
- Greater resilience against disruptions caused by geopolitical, infrastructural, or supply chain issues.
Example:
An Indian textile exporter facing delays in shipping to Egypt due to port congestion can now seek support under EPM RELIEF, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing financial losses.
Conclusion
The inclusion of Egypt and Jordan under EPM RELIEF marks a proactive step by the Indian government to support exporters amid persistent logistics challenges. By expanding the scope of eligible destinations, India reaffirms its commitment to export facilitation, resilience, and global trade partnerships.
