DGFT Notifies Seven New SIONs for Chemical and Pharmaceutical Products

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has issued Public Notice No. 23/2026-27 dated August 3, 2026, announcing the fixation of seven new Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) for chemical and allied products. This significant move aims to streamline export authorization processes and enhance efficiency for exporters in the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

What Are SIONs?

Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) are predefined standards that specify the quantity of inputs required to produce a unit of export product. These norms are crucial for exporters seeking Advance Authorisations, as they provide clarity and uniformity in the import of raw materials duty-free for manufacturing export goods.

Details of the Newly Notified SIONs

The new SIONs, numbered A-3708 to A-3714, cover a range of high-value chemical and pharmaceutical products. Below is a summary of the new norms:

Note: The content of bulk drug will be as per Drug Manufacturing Licence (DML).
